Botox, Filler, Lasers and Skincare: How to Build an Aesthetic Treatment Plan

Most people don’t come into a med spa asking for an aesthetic treatment plan.

They come in asking about one thing.

Maybe it’s Botox because the lines on their forehead are starting to stick around. Maybe they’re curious about filler because they look tired no matter how much sleep they get. Or maybe it’s a laser that promises to get rid of the freckles or broken capillaries that seemed to show up out of nowhere.

That’s usually where the conversation starts. But it isn’t always where it ends.

Botox, filler, lasers, microneedling and skincare all do different things. One treatment usually isn’t going to fix every concern, and sometimes the treatment you came in asking about isn’t actually the one that will give you the result you want.

That’s why it helps to have a plan.

Botox vs. Filler vs. Laser: What’s the Difference?

Here’s the short version:

  • Botox and Dysport address lines caused by muscle movement.

  • Filler restores volume and adds support.

  • Lasers and light-based treatments address concerns in the skin, including redness, pigment, sun damage and texture.

  • Microneedling helps support collagen and improve overall skin quality.

  • Skincare protects your skin every day and helps you get more out of your treatments.

A lot of people have more than one concern happening at the same time. That doesn’t mean everyone needs five different treatments. It just means we need to figure out what’s actually causing the things you’re noticing before deciding what to do about them.

Start With What You See

You don’t need to know the name of the treatment you need. Just tell us what’s bothering you.

Maybe you’ve started noticing that your makeup settles differently. Your skin looks dull even though you’re taking care of it. You have brown spots that weren’t there a few years ago. Your cheeks always look red. Or you feel like you look tired, even on a good day.

“I look tired” can mean a lot of different things. It could be volume loss. It could be pigmentation, texture or muscle movement. It could be a combination.

Filler might help, but it might not. Sometimes improving the skin itself makes a much bigger difference. Sometimes Botox is enough. Sometimes the best place to start is with the products you’re using at home.

The point is that the concern should lead the plan. Not whatever treatment happens to be trending online.

What Does Botox Treat?

Botox and Dysport relax the muscles that create expression lines.

They’re commonly used for forehead lines, the “11s” between the brows and crow’s feet. They can soften those lines and help keep them from becoming more deeply set over time.

But Botox can’t restore volume. It can’t remove sun damage, broken capillaries or brown spots. And it can’t fix every line on the face.

If a line is still there when your face is completely relaxed, Botox may soften it, but your skin might need some attention too. That’s where treatments like microneedling, laser resurfacing or the right skincare can come in.

Botox can be part of the plan without being the whole plan.

What Does Filler Treat?

Filler is used to restore volume, add support and improve balance in the face.

Depending on the person, that might mean treating the cheeks, chin, jawline or lips.

Sometimes adding support in one area improves something you’ve been noticing somewhere else.

But more filler is not always the answer.

Sometimes a small amount in the right place is enough. Sometimes it makes sense to wait. And sometimes what looks like a volume issue is actually more about skin quality or muscle movement.

You also don’t need to fill every line. Faces move. Skin folds. That's normal.

The goal is to figure out whether filler would actually help, not to use it just because it’s available.

Which Laser Treatment Is Right for You?

People talk about “getting a laser” as if every laser does the same thing. They don’t.

At Rêvée, we offer BBL, Moxi and Halo. Each one has a different job.

BBL is a light-based treatment that targets concerns like redness, broken capillaries, freckles, brown spots and sun damage.

Moxi is a gentle fractional laser that helps improve uneven tone, texture, early sun damage and overall skin quality. It’s a good option for someone who wants a lighter treatment with relatively little downtime.

Halo is a more intensive resurfacing treatment. It can address deeper texture, discoloration and visible sun damage, but it also comes with more downtime.

The right treatment depends on what we’re trying to improve, your skin, your history and how much downtime you’re comfortable with.

You don’t need to know whether you need BBL, Moxi or Halo before you come in. We can help you figure that out.

Where Does Microneedling Fit In?

Microneedling is a good option for a lot of people because it works with the skin’s natural healing process.

The treatment creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin, which signals the body to produce more collagen and elastin. Over time, that can help with fine lines, texture, acne scarring and overall skin quality.

It is not an instant fix. Collagen takes time to build, which is why microneedling is often done as a series and why the results continue to develop after the appointment.

Microneedling can be done on its own or worked into a larger plan with Botox, lasers and skincare.

What You Do at Home Can Matter Even More

In-office treatments can do a lot. But what you do at home every day can matter even more.

Skincare is not an extra. It is an essential part of your skin health.

The right routine can strengthen your skin barrier, improve hydration, help manage pigment and protect your skin from future damage. It can also make your treatments more effective and help the results last longer.

If you’re investing in lasers, microneedling or other treatments, you want to protect that investment. Daily sunscreen is a huge part of that. We can work on sun damage and discoloration in the treatment room, but continued unprotected sun exposure can bring it right back.

That does not mean you need a complicated routine or 12 different products.

Most people need a good cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen and a few targeted products that make sense for their skin. A simple routine you use every day will do more for you than a complicated one you can’t stick with.

Can You Combine Botox, Filler and Lasers?

Sometimes, yes.

You may hear this called treatment stacking. It simply means combining treatments that do different things so they can work together toward the same goal.

Botox may soften movement while microneedling works on texture and collagen.

BBL may target redness and brown spots while Moxi improves tone and texture.

Filler may restore support while skincare and laser treatments improve the skin itself.

It does not mean doing every possible treatment in one appointment.

Some treatments can be done together. Others need to be spaced apart. The timing depends on what you’re having done, your skin, your medical history and how you heal.

A good plan is not about doing more. It’s about doing the right things in the right order.

What Should You Do First?

It depends on what bothers you most and what will make the biggest difference.

Someone with a lot of redness and sun damage may start with BBL. Someone who is bothered by expression lines may start with Botox. Someone dealing with acne scarring or texture may begin with microneedling. Another person may need to get their home skincare routine in a better place before doing anything else.

Your budget matters. Your schedule matters too.

If you have a wedding, vacation, photos or another event coming up, tell us. Some treatments need time for the full result to develop. Others come with redness, swelling, peeling or a few days when your skin may not look its best.

You don’t have to do everything at once. A treatment plan can be spread out over months or even the full year.

What Can an Aesthetic Treatment Plan Look Like?

Everyone’s plan will look different, but yours might include:

  • A skincare routine you can realistically use every day

  • Daily sunscreen

  • Botox or Dysport based on your muscle movement and how it returns

  • A series of laser or microneedling treatments for a specific concern

  • Filler only where it adds support or improves balance

  • Maintenance treatments throughout the year

  • Check-ins to see what is working and whether your priorities have changed

The plan can change. In fact, it probably will.

Your skin changes. Your goals change. You may love one treatment and decide another one isn’t worth repeating. Something that bothered you last year may not bother you anymore.

That’s okay. This is your face and your skin. You are allowed to change your mind.

What Cosmetic Treatment Is Right for Me?

You don’t have to figure that out before scheduling a consultation.

Come in and tell us what you’re seeing, what you would like to improve and what you’re comfortable with when it comes to budget, downtime and maintenance.

We’ll talk through what each treatment can realistically do and what makes sense for you.

Sometimes the plan includes a few different treatments over time. Sometimes it starts with one. And sometimes we’ll tell you that you don’t need the treatment you came in asking for.

We’re not here to talk you into doing more. We’re here to help you understand your options and make a plan that actually makes sense.

If you’re looking for a med spa in Richmond, Virginia, schedule a consultation with Rêvée Aesthetics. We’ll help you figure out where to start.
