What is Moxi?

MOXI™ by Sciton is a non-ablative laser that provides a more gentle treatment than our HALO laser. MOXI™ uses fractionated laser energy to promote new cell growth and reduce unwanted pigment. This treatment delivers dramatic tonal and textural improvements to your face with little to no downtime.

Moxi Treats:

• All skin types
• Dispigmentation
• Melasma
• Refines pores
• Improves superficial texture

Can MOXI be used to treat Melasma?

Yes, MOXI can be used to treat Melasma. A recommended treatment plan for patients hoping to treat their Melasma would include 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. Aftercare would include a daily SPF, as well as a melanocyte inhibitor, and exfoliator

Is MOXI safe for all skin types?

MOXI is safe for skin types I – VI, meaning skin types of every color. Not all lasers are safe or effective for all skin types, but MOXI is made with everyone in mind! Similarly, MOXI can be performed during the summer, whereas other lasers make you photosensitive and better recommended for the fall and winter. MOXI is great for anyone, anytime.

How long after MOXI until you are back to normal?

Immediately after a MOXI treatment, the treated area will feel like a sunburn for a few hours. Everyone is different, but one can expect to be red like a sunburn for 1-2 days. Another part of the MOXI laser journey is experiencing the MENDS, or microscopic epidermal necrotic debris. These appear within a day or 2 all over the treated area. They feel like sandpaper, and look like little brown freckles. Because the skin on the face is different from other parts of the body, you can expect the MENDS on the face to be gone in 5-6 days, whereas the neck, chest, or other areas will be gone in 10 days-2 weeks. It is safe to apply makeup after 24 hours. You should use gentle cleanser, gentle moisturizer, and absolutely a SPF 30 or higher for a week after treatment. Reminder: daily sunscreen use is recommended regardless if you have a treatment or not. One should not have unprotected sun exposure after MOXI. Wear a hat!

MOXI at Rêvée in Richmond, VA

Here at Rêvée, we often use MOXI in combination with our BBL light bases treatment. This is dependent on skin type and skin needs of the individual. MOXI treatment usually takes about  20-30 minutes to perform; however we do numb the area prior to treatment, which can lengthen the in-office time.
