Hot Sculpting – otherwise known as SculpSure – is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that uses hyperthermic lasers to eliminate unwanted fat and tighten skin. During a Hot Sculpting treatment, a special applicator with four paddles is held to the area to be treated – abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, or chin – in order to selectively heat and destroy subcutaneous fat cells. The warming sensation is coupled with a cooling effect to help the patient feel comfortable and maintain safety. The destroyed fat cells are naturally eliminated from the body during the coming weeks and months via the lymphatic system, and patients will start to see visible slimming and toning effects after around four weeks or so. Each Hot Sculpting treatment takes 25 minutes, and patients are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately afterwards.

CoolSculpting® is another non-invasive body contouring treatment that uses extreme cold to eliminate the unwanted fat. During a CoolSculpting® procedure, a curved applicator is used to draw in fatty tissue between two cooling plates.  These special applicators are left in place for around an hour (depending on the area(s) to be treated) and the area is cooled to near freezing temperatures, killing the fat cells inside.  Patients may feel a tugging, pinching or pulling sensation when the device is applied, and some have reported discomfort with the cold temperatures until the area is numbed and the sensation subsides. As with Hot Sculpting, the frozen fat cells are broken down and eliminated from the body through the body’s natural detoxification channels.  Each treatment takes approximately an hour and patients are able to resume their normal routines straight afterwards.

Both Hot Sculpting and CoolSculpting® treatments have very similar benefits:

– They are non-invasive with little to no downtime
– There’s no surgery, incisions, injections or sutures
– There’s minimal to no pain – there is some minor discomfort associated with CoolSculpting® (pulling, tugging, pinching, and numbness) but these are brief and short-lived.
– They destroy the fat cells beneath the surface of the skin which are then eliminated naturally

– Recognized as safer alternatives to liposuction and other surgical procedures.
– They can treat several different areas of the body
– Less costly than surgical alternatives

Since the benefits from Hot Sculpting and CoolSculpting® are comparable, the patient will have to decide which option will best suit their needs and personal goals.
