CoolSculpting is a fat reduction technique that freezes persistent undesirable fat cells using cryolipolysis technology. Because it is non-invasive, there is little to no downtime after treatment, and patients can resume their normal daily activities the next day. Following a CoolSculpting procedure, some patients have minor symptoms such as brief moderate discomfort, redness, itching, bruising, and numbness in the treated region, which usually go away after a few days. If the region is particularly painful after a session, wearing light or loose-fitting clothing may assist, and some individuals bring a small snack to aid with nausea or to keep their blood sugar levels stable. Listen to your body; if you’re sore or uncomfortable, don’t force yourself to go to the gym or squeeze into some tight-fitting clothes. You can use over-the-counter pain relievers and wash or shower in warm – not hot or cold – water, being sure to fully dry the region.
CoolSculpting, unlike liposuction, involves the freezing of excess subcutaneous fat cells, forcing them to burst and release their fatty contents into circulation. As part of the regular detoxification process, these materials are digested by the lymphatic system and drained out of the body over a few months.
The results of a CoolSculpting® treatment don’t appear immediately. In most cases, you will see a reduction in fat within three weeks of a treatment, with the most dramatic results appearing between four to six months later. As long as a healthy diet and lifestyle are maintained the final results should be permanent as the fat cells destroyed in the treatment will not return and the fat contained in them will have been expelled permanently from the body. People often need more than one treatment to achieve their desired results and if this is the case further CoolSculpting® sessions can be scheduled to help them achieve and maintain their new-look body.
If you’ve had a CoolSculpting® treatment, it’s only natural that you are going to want to achieve the best possible results, in the best possible time. First and foremost, you should follow the aftercare advice that you receive from the clinic following your procedure. In order for you to achieve optimal results it is important that your body isn’t clogged up with excess waste and toxins. These could come from too much caffeine, alcohol and junk foods, so these should be restricted and water intake increased. This latter point is crucial as it will help your body to remove waste quickly and efficiently. In short:
– Drink 2.5 litres water every day
– Have only 1 or 2 caffeinated drinks per day
– Limit alcohol to a maximum of 8 units per week
– Limit processed foods, takeaways and junk food
– Avoid smoking
– Avoid recreational drugs
Whilst not essential, the following things will be beneficial to your overall results along with helping you make healthier lifestyle choices:
– Reduce sugar and refined carbohydrates
– Watch portion sizes
– Increase healthy fats (oily fish, animal fats, nuts, seeds, olive oil, coconut oil etc)
– Increase protein (white meat, fish, grass-fed red meats, plant proteins)
– Be more active – exercise regularly and include weight training
– Get plenty of good, restful sleep – aim for around 8 hours every night
– Lower stress levels
