As a neuromodulator, Botox injections block or disrupt the communication signals between the nerve endings in the treatment area and the brain that are responsible for muscle contractions. This suspension in muscle activity allows your muscles and skin to take a break and reset, as it were, which helps to smoothen out wrinkles and fine lines in the treatment area.

The actual injection process with Botox treatment is quick and relatively painless. After reviewing the treatment plan outlined at your Botox consultation process, the procedure will begin with your specialist likely marking out and cleansing the treatment areas. If you wish, a numbing cream can be applied to the treatment area to minimize any discomfort, which should not be more than a slight pinching sensation. Your specialist will then administer the Botox injections using a tiny needle. Depending on the size or number of treatment areas, your specialist may provide one to three injections containing varying amounts of the Botox solution. After the injections are complete, your specialist will provide post-treatment instructions for aftercare. In total, this process should not take more than 15 to 30 minutes, after which you should be able to resume your daily routine without complication, as no downtime is required with Botox injections.

If you are unsatisfied with the way that facial wrinkles and fine lines have settled in, Botox injections can provide excellent solutions to that problem! Botox injections have been known to improve facial tone and texture by reducing wrinkles and fine lines for anywhere from two to six months. That said, most patients will find that their results between three to four months. You should be able to notice improvements within a couple of days after your Botox injection appointment.
